This fungus causes diarrhea, infections, insomnia & bloating
Here's a fun and interesting factoid to start your day...
At this very second, there are trillions of microscopic inhabitants in your gut living together.
Trillions! If they were actually people standing shoulder to shoulder, they'd easily cover the all the land and the oceans of the earth!
And just like the earth's population, what you must know is that some of these little buggers in your gut are good and some are pretty bad.
Now, in a healthy normally functioning gut, the good ones will typically protect you by keeping the bad ones in line by starving them or surrounding and engulfing them as needed...so that they don't cause you harm.
But what upsets this pretty picture is when the bad guys become too large in number...then things get out of control.
And one particular bad guy that can cause a lot of mayhem is...
The interesting thing is, Candida is found in nearly everyone and is a normal part of your gut microbes.
It actually serves a valid function. When present in healthy numbers, Candida feeds upon unfriendly microbes produced in the gut, thereby helping to keep you healthy.
But my oh my, watch out if it grows out of control.
Because like a horror movie it transforms from Dr. Jekyll into Mr. Hyde--from a health enhancing fungus to a deadly monster.
Plus, Candida's sneaky and can wear many different faces...so you may be suffering the wrath of Candida overgrowth and not even realize it.
So here's what you need to know about the many faces of Candida and to see if it may be affecting you:
From the gut to everywhere but
The initial affected location of Candida's wrath is your gut.
When it colonizes and grows in number, Candida produces powerful toxins like gliotoxin (which can suppress your immune system and cause cell death), aldehydes and alcohol, all of which irritate and damage your intestinal wall.
At the same time, Candida acts like a "bully" on the gut wall, pushing and shoving its way deep into the intestinal lining and making it "leaky."
When your gut wall is leaky, the toxins produced by Candida can seep into your bloodstream and affect your immune system, hormone balances and even your thought processes!
And that's not all. Because when you have a leaky gut wall, poorly digested food molecules can burrow their way through your gut and into your bloodstream. Your immune system sees these partially digested food particles as dangerous invaders and can eventually begin to start launching attacks.
This is a primary way food sensitivities are created.
Signs, signs, everywhere signs
Because Candida toxins can easily get into your bloodstream, anywhere from head to toe is fair game for its wrath.
Here are some common signs and symptoms associated with Candida overgrowth--notice the wide variety:
- Abdominal bloating - Anxiety - Chronic fatigue - Clouded thinking or memory - Constipation - Cravings for foods rich in carbohydrates or yeast - Diarrhea - Depression - Eczema - Environmental sensitivities - Feeling worse on damp or muggy days or in moldy places - Food sensitivities - Insomnia - Low blood sugar - Mood swings - Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) - Psoriasis - Recurring vaginal or bladder infections - Ringing in the ears - Sensitivity to perfume or other odors
The more of those symptoms you suffer from on a regular basis, the greater the chances that Candida may be affecting YOU.
Why oh why
Candida overgrowth doesn't just come out of nowhere.
Instead it's created by very specific factors like these:
1- Antibiotic use
Antibiotics destroy your friendly gut flora so it is less capable of keeping Candida under control.
2- Use of steroid medications or birth control pills
These harm your beneficial bacteria and change the pH of your intestinal tract to favor the overgrowth of Candida.
3- Eating too many refined carbohydrates
Refined carbs are nourishment for the UNfriendly inhabitants in your gut, which helps them grow in number and overcome the good guys.
Turn the beat around
If you suspect that Candida may be an issue for you, or even if it isn't and you want to make sure it STAYS that way, the good news is that it's not hard to do.
Here's an effective four-step approach that can keep Candida overgrowth FAR away from you:
Step 1: Change your medications if possible
If you are on long-term antibiotics, steroid medications or birth control pills, it's time to explore other (natural) options or talk to your doctor about alternatives.
Step 2: Kill overgrowing Candida
Many substances have been shown to be helpful in killing off Candida including:
- Fresh, raw garlic
- Oil of oregano
- Thyme oil
- Grapefruit seed extract
- Mathake (a South American herb)
Getting garlic and olive oil in your diet is easy (and tasty!) and the other substances can be obtained from a health food store.
Note that as Candida die, protein fragments and endotoxins are released which may trigger an immune response. This "die-off reaction" can initially come out as a temporary worsening of your symptoms (especially digestive issues) and is called a Herxheimer reaction. If this happens, rest assured that it will pass soon.
Step 3: Beef up your candida killing intestinal flora
The most effective way to ensure that your army of beneficial bacteria is strong and able to keep Candida in check is through probiotic supplementation. Taking a good probiotic not only help keep Candida (and other harmful microbes) under control, but they help strengthen your gut wall, too, and make it less leaky.
That means Candida's harmful toxins and poorly digested food particles are less likely to get into your bloodstream and cause problems like I described above.
Step 4: Feed your beneficial bacteria AND avoid refined carbs
It's vital to not only feed your friendly flora and keep it healthy, but at the same time starve out the bad guys.
The Great Taste No Pain health system can help you achieve both of those goals.
Great Taste No Pain shows you how to structure delicious, easy to digest meals that feature probiotic-loving foods like vegetables and whole grains that help nourish your beneficial bacteria.
Plus, Great Taste No Pain explains the exact reasons why processed foods and refined carbs are dangerous, and offers ideas for super tasty alternatives, so your harmful microbes get deprived of their food source and are more likely to die off.
Not only will eating this way help keep your gut flora healthy and strong, but you'll likely have fewer tummy troubles and see excess weight drop easily and effortlessly before your very eyes!
Candida overgrowth can truly be a monster to your health.
Look again at the list of symptoms above. Chances are excellent that you have several of them, and may even be on medication for them!
If so, it's time to come face to face with Candida and put a stop to its wrath in your body for good.
You'll likely see a tremendous difference in your health FAST when you do.
To your health,
