I have recently attended a talk given by Dr Tim Knoakes. How enlightening it was to find a doctor at last talking nutritional sense. Tim came to his realisation, as most of us know, because he got sick ! This is so often the blow needed to wake one up to what you are doing wrong in your life. He had been on the worst diet ever, which he had been promoting for decades to his marathon runners … HIGH CARB, LOW FAT DIET !! Suddenly he is diagnosed with Diabetes. He now promotes the absolute opposite … NO CARBS, HIGH 'GOOD' FAT AND HIGH PROTEIN consumption from a 'good' source. Although this diet is not for everyone ..... All diabetics and many others who are high on the Insulin resistance scale, should be on this diet. (This Scale is goes from 1 – 6, 6 being highest insulin resistance and therefore the greatest risk of developing Diabetes.). It is also the best diet to control Metabolic Syndrome or SyndromeX, as it is often called.... this is a result of hyperinsulinernia (secreting too much insulin) which causes a whole lot of secondary health problems such as hypertention, gout, Type 2 diabetes, Atherogenic dysfunction etc. It is also a great diet to use with cancer ... with a few adjustments to the amount of protein consumed) because cancer cells live on Glucose , which is the end result of carbohydrate metabolism. If you starve the cancer cells of their main food (glucose), cancer cells die. However, normal cells can make the adaptation to burning Ketones which comes from the high FAT, moderate protein, NO carbs diet.. This extreme diet , as well as restictng calories …is called the Ketogenic diet which is similar to the diet Tim Noakes is pushing. In his talk Tim went into detail about how, thanks to the USA government and the agricultural sector a conspiracy theory about fats causing heart disease came about. This 'unproven theory' was a money deal in order to sell edible poly-unsaturated oils, such as margarine. This caused wholesale lipophobia and the development of the Low fat industry and the National dietary guideline promoting Carbohydrates as the most important and saturated fats as the most evil of foods. We have been taught this Eating Pyramid since the 1980's. This has resulted in, not only the wholesale obesity we now face throughout the world, because carbohydrates drive hunger, but also the highest percentages of Diabetes ever seen. The truth is that this pyramid should be turned up-side-down, making Good Fats the most important food, as “fats do not make us fat” and do not cause heart disease, and then also very low, if any, consumption of carbohydrates. Tim says it is SUGAR that causes heart disease and inflammatory disease, and they are in absolutey every manufactured food ! |
DAVID WOLFE
I then had the priviledge to hear David Wolfe's recorded webinar. David is a Raw Food Vegan. However he does not say that this diet will suit all he emphasizes that EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT and therefore it is up to you to find the correct diet, vegan, vegetarian, meat based, high fat, the best that suits you. He gives general guidelines as to which foods are good and which to avoid based on the Qauntum physics 'probability scale'. Firstly he says “There is never a problem without a solution”. Diets tie into a state of consciousness and can and do vary according to your genetics, your geophraphy, your attitude, your beliefs and your age. Your diet should also be in a state of flux throughout your life. Change it if you get bored ! Firstly he says most importantly is to DETOXIFY your body from the synthetic 77000 toxins now found in our bodies from man-made pollution (agric chemicals to food additives to skin care products). 50% of your immune fuction is to detoxify your body, so if it is not working well, you get very toxic, age, get sick and die ! It is therefore important to eat immune boosting foods daily. It is also important to help the liver by eating nutrients that support the detox process. 49% of the population is Methyl deficient … these compunds donate to the liver the chelation necessary to grab the toxins. Methyl-related nutrients are found in eggs, fish meat and milk but also in strawberries citrus leafy greens, beets and Gogi Berries. “NATURE'S SOLUTION TO POLLUTION IS DILUTION” ….. During detoxing it is important to eliminate the toxins out of the body as quickly as possible … so drink a lot of water with a pinch of Himilayan or sea salt in each glass. Salts themselves are detoxifyers. Detoxing should become a regular process in your life … the Essene's, people in ancient times who reputedly had amazing longevity, said that for every year of your life you should detox one day per year … I guess that is why Jesus disappeared for 40 days into the wilderness when he was 40 years old ! Juices, blending fresh produce, enemas ot colonics should all be part of your detox program, and EXERCISE during detoxing is of utmost importance to move the lymph. No toxins should be put on the skin during detoxing … only coconut/olive oil and cocoa butter. He then gave a list of THINGS TO AVOID 1. TAP WATER contains every toxin you have heard of, pharceutical, drugs, agriculture chemicals, radiation, heavy metals, etc. He says “Get a filter or become a filter~” The best water is spring or wild water, so make an effort to drink good water.

SALT … Good Sea salt or Himilayan salt … there are 85 minerals in this. NEVER touch table salt it is only Na and Cl and throws you out of balance.
BUTTER IS GOOD, but it must be organic. Butter was maligned in the 1960s and replaced with Margarine. Margarine is deadly, it is a plastic and remains solid above body temperature
CHOLESTEROL too has been maligned, without it in our diets we could not make Vit D3 so vital for our immune systems nor could we make our steroid hormones.

Well those are two experts! Both following very different health promoting diets. Tim comes from a Diabetic viewpoint. This adapted and extreme Palleolythic diet is the right diet for him and others with insulin resistance. David's diet is right for him, he thrives on a raw vegan diet.
I have always emphasized the fact that because we are all so different, one diet does NOT suit all. You have to find that diet that suits your needs. However there are definitely a list of foods to avoid and another list of foods to include, and that applies to everyone.
I was also pleased to hear from David Wolfe's talk that what TO DETOX is absoliutely the right way to GO.
The detox offered IN THIS COURSE takes great care of the liver with the Methyl-related nutrients used in the juices and the supplements supporting the detox process.

Avoid toxins in food, skin care products. Cut out wheat, humans cannot digest wheat. Use only organic, or ethically grown produce.
